EVOLUTION OF UIMB ( FORERUNNER WELFARE FOUNDATION)

May 2016, a casual conversation ensued between two contemporary UI alumni. The conversation brought up good memories of the fascinating brotherhood that radiated amongst them during their days in the university. There, the thought to rekindle the glowing light of brotherhood became an agendum!

Motivated by this challenge and the sweetness of brotherhood experienced and enjoyed together as undergraduates of the University of Ibadan more than 20 years ago under the auspices of Muslim Students’ Society of Nigeria, some few brothers came together despite thousands of kilometers apart using the opportunity of evolution of communication technology , watsapp specifically to further the hitherto enjoyed Islamic brotherhood. This initiative was christened University of Ibadan Muslim Brotherhood ( UIMB).

Progressing the thought former secretary of MSSN UI , Alhaji Idris Ismail discussed the idea with brother Muslihudeen Popoola and brother Mutiu Olopade, who also bought into the idea. The idea moved from social to more impacting initiatives the very day Engr Hussein Babatunde Abdul Ganiy keyed into the idea and the energy of Alhaji Badejo Tajudeen was infused. Just like the day Umar ibn Khattab ( radhiya-Allāhu anhu) embraced Islām, the idea has grown into value added intiative with brothers from generation to generation who have passed through UI and especially MSSN have been embracing it .

Since 14th of May 2016, this brotherhood has been re-enlived, thriving, growing and adding values . Today, it has metamorphosed into a foundation known as Fore-Runner Welfare Foundation with more than 250 all-men membership from all works of life within Nigeria and in diaspora .
